DIY Lash Extensions Explained
Enjoy long-lasting lashes in just minutes with our easy-to-use lash extension kit, perfect for beginners. Designed to emulate salon lash extensions, Sunday Salon allows you to skip the salon and save time without sacrificing quality. Sunday Salon DIY Lash Extension kits include everything to amplify your lashes swiftly, using fewer clusters for a look that rivals professional treatments. Simply apply the bond, set the clusters in place, and enjoy a seamless finish – beauty made simple!
Our strip & magnetic lashes are designed for everyday wear and are conveniently removable with your daily makeup routine. In contrast, Sunday Salon's DIY lash extensions offer the flexibility of an extended wear, allowing you to enjoy a fuller lash look for several days at a time without the need for daily application.
Bond: Our specially-formulated Bond is more than just an adhesive; it's a week-long commitment to flawless lashes. Its robust formulation ensures that clusters remain anchored for up to seven days, providing a longevity that traditional glues simply can't match.
Sealant: Ensure your perfect lash look lasts even longer with the Sunday Salon Sealant. It doesn't just set the bond, it removes any residue from the bond, helping provide the perfect finish.
The Sunday Salon remover is crucial for safely taking off your DIY Lash Extensions, ensuring no harm comes to your natural lashes. This oil-based solution gently loosens the adhesive, allowing your extensions to slide off effortlessly.
All of our DIY Cluster Lashes are meticulously crafted using superior Korean PBT silk, renowned for its durability, flexibility, and lightweight properties, ensuring a comfortable wear that feels as luxurious as it looks. This premium material also boasts a natural softness that closely mimics the quality of real mink fur. Committed to cruelty-free practices, these lashes are an ethical and vegan-friendly beauty choice.
A cluster lash is a small grouping of individual false lashes that are bonded together at one end to create a segment or "cluster." Unlike a full strip lash that extends across the entire eyelid, cluster lashes are used to enhance volume and thickness in targeted areas of the natural lash line. They allow for a customisable and more natural look, as you can apply as many or as few clusters as desired to achieve the preferred level of fullness. This type of lash is particularly versatile, offering the ability to create various styles from a subtle, natural enhancement to a more dramatic, voluminous effect.
The primary distinction between Classic, Russian, and Hybrid lashes lies in their density. Each style offers a varying level of fullness, catering to individual preferences for lash volume.
Classic
Classics are applied in a 1:1 ratio, meaning one extension per natural lash. Classics are perfect for enhancing length while keeping volume to a natural level.
Russian
Russian (Volume) extensions too are applied in a 1:1 ratio - the difference, however, is that the lashes are fanned. The number of lashes in the fan can vary from 2 (2D) all the way up to 7 (7D)! Russians are perfect for making a statement with your eyes.
Hybrid
Hybrids are a combination of Classics and Volume - usually in a ratio of 30:70 Classic to Volume. This gives the best of both worlds without the sometimes-unnatural look of Russians. Because of the change of texture, these lashes can appear spikey.
Application
Please follow our in depth how-to guide here.
Cluster lashes are crafted with at-home application in mind, and many of our customers report finding them more straightforward to apply compared to traditional strip lashes. The design eliminates the common issue of the ends lifting and offers a sensation so lightweight, you'll barely notice they're there. To aid you in the process, we've compiled comprehensive guides to streamline the application. Furthermore, our team is always on standby to provide any additional help you might need. With just a few tries and a bit of practice, you'll find that you'll master the technique swiftly, elevating you to pro status in no time.
If your lashes are adhering to the applicator, it may be due to excess bond on the applicator. To prevent this, ensure that there's only a minimal amount of bond on the lash band and avoid getting the adhesive on the tweezers. If the issue persists, gently wiping the tweezers with an alcohol pad between applications can help keep them clean and non-sticky. Do not use your remover liquid to remove residue from the applicator as this will interfere with the integrity of the lashes.
Absolutely not. If you find that you're aware of the Cluster Lashes while wearing them, it's a sign that they haven't been placed accurately. In such instances, it's best to take them off and reapply for a more comfortable, seamless fit.
If a lash cluster loosens or detaches, there's no need to remove the entire set. You can simply perform a quick touch-up. Just apply a small amount of bond to the base of the loose cluster and reattach it to your lash line. This simple fix allows you to maintain a full, beautiful look without starting over.
- For extra adhesive strength, apply bond to the upper side of each cluster before placement.
- Leave a few natural lashes free on the outer corner while applying the first cluster for a more natural look. Ensure there are no gaps between lash segments as you work towards the inner corner.
- Before applying bond to natural lashes, detach the lash clusters from the tray for smoother application.
- To extend lash extension longevity, add a thin layer of bond to the lash cluster's band before application. Allow it to dry for 20-30 seconds before attaching the clusters to natural lashes.
- When applying the Seal, use the fuzzy ball tip at the lash base where the Bond is stickiest. Apply the Seal from the root to the tip using the brush applicator.
- After applying lashes, wait 24 hours before showering or exposing them to steam. During showers or face washing, avoid direct water contact with the eyes.
- Use cotton pads to clean the eye area around the lashes before use. This prevents oils from touching the lashes, which can weaken the bond and reduce wear time.
- Avoid sleeping on your face to maintain lash extension longevity.
- If lash clusters loosen after days of wear, apply a thin coat of Bond to the band and merge it with the natural lash using the lash grab. This prolongs cluster wear.
- Do not peel off lash clusters from natural lashes; use Sunday Salon's Remover for effective removal.
Aftercare
- Bonding: If lashes are lifting, consider applying a bit more bond. Aim for a small dab at the base of your lashes or run a thin line along the lash spine — this helps to avoid using too much.
- Securing: After applying, wait for about 5 minutes, then firmly press the lashes against your natural ones with the applicator. This should be part of your daily routine for a more durable hold, especially after exposure to moisture.
- Lash Prep: Start with oil-free, clean lashes. Make sure they're thoroughly dried post-cleansing before you begin the application.
- Product Choice: Stay away from oil-based products around your eyes as they can weaken the bond.
- Skin Type: If you have naturally oily skin around your eyes, it could affect the staying power of the lashes.
- Sealing: To increase wear-time, make use of your seal liquid. It sets and seals the bond, extending the life of your lash set.
- Water Exposure: Our lashes can handle a splash, but they're not fully waterproof. If they get wet, let them air dry without touching, and then clamp them down once more.
- Placement: Apply the lashes about 1-2mm from the waterline to avoid contact with moisture which can break down the bond.
- Touching: Hands off! Your hands carry oils and dirt that can transfer to your lashes, impacting how long they last.

It's possible that you're using more bonding agent than necessary. When you next apply your DIY lashes, remember to use a minimal amount of bond, focusing only on the roots of your lashes. An excessive amount of bond can leave behind a sticky sensation. If you notice any stickiness after application, our Seal product can help. Not only does it prolong the wear of your lashes, but it also removes any tackiness from your DIY lash set, provided that the stickiness isn't due to overapplication of the bond.
While wearing DIY lash extensions, you can certainly keep your face/eye area clean and shower with them on. When cleansing around the eyes, gently navigate with a cotton swab to reach any tricky spots. If there's makeup on the lashes, carefully dab it off with a water-dampened cotton swab. It's important to steer clear of oil-based products near the eyes, as oils can weaken the adhesive bond. On the day you plan to remove your lashes, ensure to thoroughly cleanse your natural lashes for optimal lash health.
Mascara application on Sunday Salon's Cluster Lashes is not recommended. The unique design and volume of these lash extensions provide ample enhancement, making additional mascara unnecessary. Applying mascara can compromise the integrity and longevity of the lashes, and may interfere with the seamless appearance and wearability that the clusters are designed to offer.
It's best to avoid oil-based products around your eyes when wearing cluster lashes, as oil can weaken the bond, causing the lashes to loosen or fall off prematurely. If you must use products near your eye area, opt for oil-free formulas to maintain the longevity of your lash application. On your scheduled lash removal day, oil-based cleansers can then be used to help gently and effectively remove the lashes without harming your natural ones.
